    Changing String Gauge

    Y'all

I am happy to report that I just picked up 10-21-02a - a classic S (GOTW Nov 2, 2002) from Gruhn's It is in amazing un-played condition, but has 9 -42 gauge strings. Here's the Q....how far can I push a change in gauge without an adjustment. 9 -46? 10 - 46? or not at all?

And yes...I can handle the shell pink finish!

    All feedback welcome.

i wouldn't think it would need anything more than a little truss rod adjustment if you're going up from 9's to 10's.

technically you would want to check intonation, but i can tell you that is it really close between .009 and ,010's. neck adjustment should be checked, and it will also be a small adjustment. best to check theadjustment with the current string gauge. as old as it is, it may or may not be as it should be. then change and observe the difference.

Wouldn't the nut need attention if going up a gauge ?

    Thanks all....

The 9's are actually growing on me, but if I do make the move I will give it a thorough check-up. What a Gtr!
